About Whisperate

Whisperate is an anonymous chat solution developed for higher education. Our goal is to make it safer and more intuitive for students to participate during lectures. At the same time, we place strong emphasis on ease of use for lecturers, so they can adopt Whisperate without having to change their teaching approach.

Who are we?

Whisperate was founded in 2024 and is developed by a Norway-based team with backgrounds in technology, product development, and education. We work closely with lecturers and students to ensure that the solution works well in practice and contributes to improved teaching and learning outcomes.

Why was Whisperate developed?

Through research conducted at universities and colleges, we identified a clear challenge:

  • Students often have questions and valuable input, but very few feel comfortable speaking up during lectures.
  • Lecturers report that many existing tools are overly complex, provide limited educational value, and are not well suited to higher education.

Whisperate was therefore developed to address these challenges in a way that works in real teaching situations for both students and lecturers.

What does Whisperate contribute?

Through Whisperate's anonymous chat solution, we:

  • Lower the barrier for participation
  • Enable all types of students to ask questions and share input
  • Create more interaction and a more inclusive learning environment
  • Make it easier for lecturers to receive feedback during lectures
  • Provide lecturers with better insight into what students are wondering about

All questions and answers are stored after the lecture, allowing students to review the content afterwards. This supports long-term learning and reduces the need for lecturers to answer the same questions multiple times.

Safety and control

Whisperate provides strong control and a safe learning environment. Lecturers have full oversight and can easily remove unwanted content when needed. Students remain anonymous to both lecturers and fellow students.

In the event of violations of the guidelines, lecturers can contact Whisperate (contact@whisperate.com). If necessary, we can identify the sender to support appropriate follow-up. Deleted messages are retained in encrypted backups for up to 7 days for this purpose.
